The organization began in 2011 through a personal initiative of Reverend Samson Karens and his wife, Alice, in Naivasha, Kenya, when they reached out to street children in the lake town of Nakuru County. This effort was born out of Reverend Samson’s own experience as a child. Throughout his youth, he was cast aside as a homeless street urchin until caring missionaries from the U.S. rescued him from the streets, invited him to church and gave him an educational scholarship to return to school.
After experiencing the transformational power of faith and education, Reverend Samson started Change Destiny Life Africa. Today, he and his team of volunteers from around the world minister to the same streets in Naivasha to help change destinies — one vulnerable child, one education and one relationship with Jesus Christ at a time.
Thanks to the support of generous donors and partners, the organization currently supports 24 children; two in university, seven in high school and 15 in elementary school. Reverend Samson’s vision is to expand the program to sponsor the education of 100 students by 2030 from elementary to university. In addition to education, the students also participate in Vocational Bible School as well as a discipleship and mentorship program.
Please pray for the health and education of our 24 sponsored students and their families, our volunteers and our leadership team.
Sponsor a child’s education for $50 per month or $600 per year to cover the cost of their school fees, uniform, school supplies and lunch, if needed.
Sponsor a weekly Vocational Bible School for $100 per week. Your gift will provide a safe location, transportation and snacks for our 24 sponsored students and volunteers.
Our kids are always in need of items like sanitary towels, clothing (new and gently used), school supplies and sports equipment. Contact us for a complete list and mailing instructions.
With your support, we are laying the groundwork for a future home base, tangible projects to create financial independence for Naivashan communities and educational facilities.
We are always looking for volunteers to donate their time, talent and expertise to our organization - whether at home or on mission. Contact us to learn more.
Reverend Samson and his wife, Alice, are the heart and soul of Change Destiny Life Africa. In addition to leading the mission’s Kenyan operations, Rev. Samson is currently a full-time student at Alberta Bible College studying marriage and family therapies. Due to tough regulations that limit the ability of international students to work, Samson is not allowed to have as full time job, which has caused a significant financial strain on his family.
